The World’s View Vs Heaven’s
Written by Brother Phil on May 20, 2020
The Scripture makes it very clear that there is a distinct difference between the world’s philosophy and that of Heaven. Mankind has always taken what it experiences and feels and allowed that to mold their view and beliefs.
Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any may spoil you through philospohy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
In contrast, God has established Truth, aka The Scripture, which He set above Himself.
Psalm138:2 “…for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.”
I. Not compatible because of what we believe.
II Timothy 4:2-4 “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”
Areas Scriptural Beliefs differ:
- The Bible
- Jesus Christ
- The Holy Spirit
- The Resurrections
- The Church
- Lords Supper
- The Doctrine of Man
- Separation from the World
- Secondary (Ecclesiastical) Separation
- The world believes all roads lead to Heaven.
John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
- The world believes being a Pastor is a career and it also can be for women.
I Timothy 3:1 “This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity…”
II. Not compatible because of what we think about
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
- The world thinks about the bad constantly.
This is also us 80% of the time.
- The world thinks about increase for themselves.
Luke 17: 30, 31 “Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.”
III. Not compatible because of the way we behave.
- The world thinks about what it can do for itself in the future.
II Corinthians 6:14-18 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
- The world flirts and holds hands like it’s no big deal.
I Corinthians 7:1 “Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.”
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
- The world ogles over movie stars.
Romans 13:7 “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.”
Our beliefs, our thoughts, and our actions are based off of what we hold as truth. I am so glad that these areas aren’t up to my interpretation or situational.
God set the truth up in eternity past and our job is to learn it and try to live it to the best we can with the time we have.
His truth overcomes my circumstances, background, and my future. Let’s stop the excuses of who we were and be what God wants us to be.
