Are you saved?

Written by on March 1, 2020

Do you have assurance of salvation? If you were to die today, do you know without a doubt or question where you would go?

These questions are searching and to some maybe seem impossible to know. The Scripture tells us in I John 5:13 “…that ye may know that ye have eternal life…” God gave us His word so we could know we have eternal life.

Are you married? Are you sure? You are either married or you’re not. There is no halfway place. A person is either saved or lost. You would know and you can know for sure.

Sin is the only thing not allowed in Heaven:

I. I must understand I’m a sinner

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

-I have done wrong in the eyes of a Holy God and because of 1 sin I have come short of Heaven.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death…”

-What I’ve earned (my wage) for what I’ve done(sins) is separation from God in Hell and Lake of Fire

II. I must understand that God has already provided for my salvation

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

-Jesus lived a sinless life. He could not sin and had no sin in Him. He was the only worthy sacrifice for the sins of the world. He not only lived a perfect life but shed His blood on the cross for us.

-His soul was made a sacrifice in Hell (Isaiah 53:10) He stood in our spot!

-Jesus took my punishment so that I don’t have to go to Hell or the Lake of Fire. He rose by the power of God the third day and lives forever more.

III. Knowing that I cannot save myself

Titus 3:5 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us…”

-This home in Heaven can not be earned. It is a free gift from God paid for by Jesus Christ. Accepted by faith in His sacrifice.

Ephesians 2:8,9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

God’s will is for everyone to trust in Christ but it is of our free will.

II Peter 3:9 “… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

IV. Turn from my own thoughts and understanding and toward God

-God calls this repentance

Luke 13:3 “…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”

V. Accept the gift of eternal life from Christ

Romans 10:9,10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Who can do this?

You can right now…it is for whosoever!

You may pray something like: “Dear Jesus, I know I’m a sinner. I know I can’t earn my way to Heaven so I’m putting my trust in Christ’s finished work. I accept the gift of eternal life. Thank you Jesus. Amen.”
